My entire life I have been told I have a talent for writing, and in the words of my English teacher junior year of high school "Maybe one day if you get paid to write, you'll do it more often" (clearly while I may have had a 'talent' for writing, it wasn't my favorite thing to do lol) Even my husband has asked me why it is that I don't blog...and after careful consideration, I have concluded that I am not narcissistic enough to be a blogger. I don't believe that what I have to say is so important that anyone would take time out of their life to read my blog, or really care what I have to say. Why would they? Is that really what our society has come to? Reading other random people's pointless ramblings, as though we don't have anything else better to do? I know our culture has become increasingly sedentary, but if you are bored go read a book, or do something to better yourself or learn something that will actually help you - besides what I had for dinner or my opinion on [insert meaningless topic here]. As a self-proclaimed grammar queen (and spelling bee champ!) nothing annoys me more than reading countless misspellings or improper use of contractions and apostrophes in a blog someone apparently felt was good enough to make public. I've heard the "it's my journal" line from bloggers before, but my question is: If it really is just your journal, or an outlet for you to write to your heart's content, then why make it public? Keep it to yourself! The true reason is, because you WANT someone else to see it. You WANT someone else to read what you think about something, or what you have going on in your life...because you are a narcissist. If you are not sure what that even is, see this definition:
Narcissist (n): Excessive love or admiration of oneself.
What other explanation could there be? ;)
